The Courage to Create
I’m excited to team up with Adobe to offer this free online course!
Over the years, I’ve put a lot of thought into the advice I give my two adult kids—both talented graphic designers just starting out.
With more than 30 years in the industry and 15 years running my own studio, I’ve learned a lot, sometimes the hard way.
I’m so thankful to Adobe for giving me the chance to pass that knowledge along. I’ve put a lot of time and effort into creating this course, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

“All I can say is wow.
I just finished watching your course, The Courage to Create. From the very first section, Courage is The Foundation of Confidence. I knew I had to take the time to watch the entire course. I’m a 54-year-old designer who has worked in a small studio, an educational association, and now a national agency. However, I feel like I’ve lost my confidence, and I’m now in a position where I feel like I’m just taking orders. It wasn’t always like this; when I was at the educational association, I loved designing and felt like I was making a difference. Eveything you said was confirmation for me.”
“I'm currently watching your video on Behance, "The Courage to Create". These videos mean a lot to me.
Now I feel encouraged to just START.”
“I just wanted to say thank you!
I've heard the phrase “Jack of all trades, master of none” SO many times in my life.
As someone with a voracious curiosity and a tremendous love of learning, it always stung to hear it - especially since it was usually spoken to diminish and/or discourage.
Maybe because of the authority behind the voices that said it - or maybe because of the uncomfortable fear that it might be true - I never thought to look up the full quote. Like, why would I want to dig further into something that already hurt?
But hearing the entire quote during your latest Adobe Career Guides session felt like a release I didn’t even know I needed.
"Jack of all trades, master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one"
As mundane as it may seem - thank you for this and all the gems in your session!”
